I keep trying to come up with a clever description of me, but there's no one thing that really describes me besides "Geek" or "Nerd". I'm a second generation nerd working raise v 3.0. My parents read me Sci-Fi and comics from as long as I can remember. When I was 7, my parents gave me my first comics and I'm still collecting today. I read a little of everything, Marvel, DC, dark horse, IDW, Image, etc. If hard pressed, I'd say I'm a Marvel girl. I enjoy watching most of the comic related movies as long as their translation is at least in the spirit of comic if entirely canon.
I've always enjoyed Star Wars and have seen all of them in the theater. I prefer the Originals, not really that into the prequels. I like Star Trek, but it can't beat Star Wars. However, I'm hard-pressed to decide who would win a fight between Han Solo and Captain Malcolm Reynolds. Firefly ended too soon, but I won't hold my breath for a follow-up to Serenity. I've seen every Whedon movie or TV show there is.
I started Cosplaying about 5 years ago. I really enjoy it and have about 10 full outfits. I'll post some good examples here. I dress up as comic book character, Steampunk, Sci-Fi, and Pin-up. The longer I do it, the more costumes and accessories I acquire. Some day I hope to try my own hand at sewing the costume, but for now I use doitstyle.com for the basic costume and add accessories. I've been dying my hair unnatural colors like blue, purple, & green for about 10 years. This has required me to acquire several wigs for my costumes to be more authentic.
I'm also a computer programmer at a large corporation. I love my job and relish that I don't entirely fit in there. I've got professional clothes that I wear during the weekdays, but change into my punky clothes at night and on weekends. I'm usually wearing a geeky t-shirt with a short skirt or jeans or a Victorian or Retro dress. I have WAY too many clothes, but it's fun to dress up.
